Dear Parents of children starting in Reception in September 2021,
Following the government’s announcement on Monday we do not anticipate the current guidance for schools changing before the end of term.
Sadly, this means we cannot hold our normal New Parent Meetings that we had planned for 30th June and 1st July or the visit to the classroom on the morning of 9th July.
Instead we will be sending you four documents:
A powerpoint (and an alternative word document with script) that will give you all the information you would have been given at the meeting.
- An information pack for parents about the class.
- A Social Story written for your child that tells them all about their class and the staff who will be working with them. This will include lots of photographs.
- An “All About Me” sheet that your child can complete with you. This can then be posted / emailed back to school. The teacher will enjoy reading these and will use them for a classroom display in September.
All the plans for September, including Play and Chat sessions, should go ahead as planned. We will email you to tell you when your Play and Chat session is.
Once you have received and read this information, if you have any further questions, you can call us on 01767 312311 (West), 01767 312212 (East) or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Play & Chat and Staggered Starts for September 2021
Play and Chat Sessions
On Monday 6th, Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th September, we have ‘play and chat’ sessions. For these sessions, only a few families at a time attend, giving the children time to quietly re-familiarise themselves with the staff and their classroom after the holidays and giving you time to chat with staff about anything you think they need to know. It is a great opportunity for us all to get to know each other. You will receive a slot via email. If you are unable to attend this slot please ring the school office so they can rearrange the time.
Our Staggered Start
It is best for children if they have a staggered start to school to help them settle in and get used to all the new experiences, rules and routines. We appreciate that for working parents this can be difficult, so we keep the staggered start short.
Thursday 9th and Friday 10th September – 8.55 a.m. – 12 noon (i.e. home before lunch)
Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th September – 8.55 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. (i.e. home just after lunch)
From Thursday 16th September – 8.55 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. – Full days.
Please make sure that you have returned the form below to the school office.
You can find lots of useful information in our school prospectus.
